Q. How big is Britannia Rescue?
A. We currently cover approximately 400,000 vehicles.
Q. Do you cover the whole country?
A. We cover the whole of the UK and members who travel to Southern Ireland can also use our service.
Q. How many HQ staff do you have?
A. 78. This includes managers, customer service advisors and support staff.

Q. How many agents do you have?
A. We have 350 agents in the UK, many of which operate from more than one location. This means we have a national network of over 3,000 specialist roadside technicians working who operate night and day, 365 days a year.
Q. Are you available 24 hours a day?
A. Yes. Every day of the year.
Q. How long have you been in operation?
A. Since 1983
Q. How do you operate?
A. We use a network of carefully selected agents who provide assistance on our behalf. Each agent is a member of COBRA ( The Confederation of Britannia Rescue Agents ) which promotes agent loyalty and mutually beneficial ideas.
Q. Do you give prority to lone female drivers?
A. We give priority to any member in a vulnerable situation, including lone females.
Q. How will I identify your agent?
A. All our agents are issued with identity cards and they will know your name.
Q. Do I pay for parts and what if I have no money on me?
A. The member is responsible for the cost of any parts/petrol etc and this must be paid direct to the agent. If for any reason you are unable to pay, the agent will bill us and we will bill you.
Q. Do you have a limit on call outs?
A. No, but we do reserve the right to ask for proof of maintenance if our service is overused.
Q. If I have just left home on my UK holiday, will you recover me to my destination?
A. If you"re near your home, we will arrange recovery to a local garage. If you"re in excess of the immediate area around your home (½ mile radius) you may be recovered to your destination in one recovery.
Q. On Deluxe cover: Will I get an equivalent vehicle?
A. We will provide either a Group A (Fiesta1.1or similar), or Group B (Escort1.4 or similar) vehicle. Any additional requirements are subject to availability and are charged to the member.
Q. How long will I have to wait for it to be delivered?
A. Cars are normally delivered to our agent"s premises within 1½ hours of contacting the hire car company.
Q. Where do I return it to?
A. It should normally be returned to the agent"s premises - alternatively a different destination may be agreed via BR with the car company.
Q. Why must I pay by credit card?
A. All car hire is subject to the conditions of the hire company, who, to safeguard themselves, always insist on credit card payment.
What"s Covered?
Q. Are caravans or trailers covered?
A. All cover is extended to include caravans/trailers at no extra cost.
Q. Do you have an age limit for cars and do you charge extra for older cars?
A. No.
Q. If my car breaks down, who will be covered driving it?
A. We cover the vehicle/s nominated by the member, no matter who is driving. However, if you select our personal cover option, member and partner are covered in any vehicle they drive or travel in. You"ll need to call 0800 591563 where one of our customer service advisors will go through your requirements.
Q. The car is kept at university during term - am I still covered?
A. Provided that the vehicle is kept at the registered address as shown on our records during the remainder of the year - we"ll cover you.
Q. Can I cover more than one vehicle?
A. Yes, if you select our personal cover option, member and partner are covered in any vehicle they drive or travel in, or you can cover 2 individual vehicles. You"ll need to call 0800 591563 where one of our customer service advisors will go through your requirements.
Q. Do you cover motorcycles?
A. Yes, we cover motorcycles at the same levels and the same prices as cars. Click here for further details on the levels of cover available.
European cover...
Q. I travel to Europe, do you offer any breakdown cover?
A.Yes, with deluxe you"ll get 180 days free cover in Europe. Alternatively, you can buy it separately along with personal travel insurance. Further details...
Q. What contries do you cover?
A. We cover all European countries.
Q. Do you cover my motorbike abroad?
A. Yes.
Q. My car is 15 years old. Is there an age limit on your Deluxe European cover?
A. No. As in the UK we don"t have restrictions on the ages of cars we cover, nor do we increase premiums for older cars.
Q. Do you cover my motorhome/camper van abroad?
A. Yes, as long as it conforms with the size restrictions in our terms and conditions and is a manufacturer"s factory built vehicle and not modified in any way. Vehicles exceeding these restrictions will only be accepted with prior written confirmation.

Q. Can I contact you by mobile phone?
A. Yes - using the FREEPHONE number although you will pay an element of the charge as a mobile phone user. There is also a normal pay line which is shown on the windscreen sticker.
